The teapot workshop with LCTKD

  • How can you show the principles of grounding, sticking, and yielding in curious and engaging partner work exercises?
  • How can you reach out to teachers from diverse arts such as Karate, Taekwondo, Qigong and Tai Chi within the same workshop - appeal to all levels and toss in a few absolute beginners into the soup?
  • How can you balance these challenges, armed only with a plate of custard creams and a very small kettle?

That was my challenge - one set by Neil Hall of LCTWD - in the workshop he organised in October 25.

Thanks to the diverse and curious minds that turned up to work through dozens of routines and drills, partner exercises and discussions on the general guidelines of practices of Tai Chi. We worked through yielding and grounding, balance and flow, softness and sticking, we worked with arms only, feet only, and with mind only and with eyes open and eyes closed.

We worked through tea-breaks and fire-talks, laughter and silence, and by the end of 3 hours, we didn't disperse nor rush away, but slowed down, sat down and shared what we had discovered together. 🙏
